Saw both episodes last night. Love the show, but in watching Gunny shoot . . . I can definitely tell he's more at home on the line at Camp Perry rather than in a bay at the 3-Gun Nationals.
Agreed. Many of the shooters (not gun owners) I've seen at organized matches (USPSA/IDPA) were on par with those I shot with in Indiana. However, the personalities down here are lacking compared to IN guys I shot with at Riley.
Now, I will agree that public ranges are scary places. The range...
Indeed they are, the KAC M110 Semi-Auto Sniper System (SASS). It's probably what you could consider the next generation of the Mk 11 Mod 0/1/2 series that the Navy has been using for years (since long before I got in to the gun culture). It's quite a honey of a gun.
Aside from the Mk12 Mod 0 and Mod 1, there are a couple others:
Big Army has the Squad Designated Marksman program along with the Squad Designated Marksman Rifle which is an M16 with a new 1-in-8 20" SS Barrel (Douglas I believe), Match 2-Stage Semi-Auto Trigger, DD M4 free float rail system...
In addition, there's no real competitive advantages to shooting 9mm in Production Division (9mm scores the same as if you're shooting .500 S&W Magnum) and ammo costs more.
FWIW though, you can reload some pretty dang soft shooting 40 and .45 as well. I think some .45 at Minor PF, I could...
This has been one thing that's kept me from getting a bigger range bag. For matches, I've been pondering building/modifying a war-wagon of sorts. Even lugging my small bag, required accouterments, and a cooler at the summer matches down here can be a PITA.
Closest I could get with about 10 seconds on google.

I'd say skip the 5.11 bag, save $60 and get one of these:

From what I gather, they're darn near the same bag. Only downside is that everyone has them, so it could get confusing at a match.
This is the reason I'm trying to come back for the IN match next year. :D
I know the match last year was worth the drive and then some! Too bad this working stiff can't make it this year. I gotta sit down here and wait for Nate's U-Haul to show up.
