The classifieds on this forum populate to riverofguns.com giving national reach then when folks try to connect with members to possibly buy the things they’ve advertised, they can’t reach them. Then, when moderators ping the new member for a scolding, that conversation is closed to replies.

That sounds like a riverofguns issue. Why are they connecting to this forum?

Right? That other site should have a disclaimer. “Warning: grumpy old men moderating!”

And for **** sake INGO should maybe post some site rules, especially regarding the classified. No wonder people wonder in here posting one liners! Sheesh. How they ‘posed to know? That’s like grumpy-old-man 101. Put a sign in your yard that says “Stay off the lawn!” And maybe a FJB sign just to keep it real.

Yeah, that does sound like an issue of the other site scraping other sites for content. I can see that INGO would not want to exclude the classifieds from search engines/crawlers because it brings traffic, and clicks, but still can't be responsible for how another site pulls in its content.

You can always pony up $20 (however that doesn't guarantee another member will deal with you) or converse with us, let us get to know you and get to some of us.

Or just melt down and leave.

We don't allow replies when you get dinged for 1 of 2 reasons. You've been warned countless times for the same **** over and over again, or when you were given the warning you were linked the rules of the classifieds....that means go read the rules (which are pretty simple and self exolantatory), that you should've read when you joined, there's nothing more for us to communicate about.

And if by chance someone can't comprehend the rules the newbs can still start a new conversation with a mod to help them out

I can kind of see his point with the way it works on that riverofguns.com website. If they click on a link to an ad on INGO, they go straight to that ad, so they don't even have a chance to see the rules or anything else first.

Yeah buy what I qouted and replied to was about being a new member and when they get warned they can't reply. At that point they joined and obviously didn't read the rules.

My response was to why the new member can't reply to the warning. We lock them from being able to respond because we've linked them the rules to read or they're a habitual offender and should know the rules at that point

You mean the one that all new members are supposed to send to the mods?

Or was that a pineapple pizza? I can't remember who likes what anymore.

Well, whichever it is, best to play it safe and cover it with bacon.
    Its PUDC. (cupcake format preferrably).

For extra points or for us to overlook a transgression, we can be bribed with lacquered (candied) bacon.

Well hello again. At 0542 this AM when I sent you a PM, I did lock it to replies. That is because it wasn't a discussion at that point. It was a staff member/moderator providing the specifics (copy/paste of the chapter and verse, that is how I roll) on what part of our site/classifieds rules you were violating.

I don't know what riverofguns.com is or what it does. I am on staff at Indianagunowners.com, which is the preeminent gun owners discussion forum on the Internet. You received a PM from me very early this AM for violating the classifieds rules (several of them actually.)

Down in my signature line (where the links to the site and classifieds rules are found) you'll see "Come for the classifieds, stay for the discussion." That is what you need to take from this.
