XDm= JUNK? - not at all it just needs proper LUBE!
Boy am I NOT happy. I finally find a semi-auto pistol that fits my tiny hobbit-hands and now after a little more than a year not one but TWO of my 3 XDms are broken-ass pieces of unreliable JUNK! After this mess I've pretty much lost faith in the third XDm. I just CAN'T TRUST 'em anymore!
I have 3 XDms. An all black 9mm 3.8 compact bought July of last year. Last week at the range at exactly the 500 round mark (I keep a spreadsheet of ALL rounds fired) it began with the FTFs....and then FTE...and it was one after the other. THAT gun is currently back at SA getting fixed. I shipped it off last Friday.
Then TODAY my Stainless/OD full size XDm 9mm started exactly the same thing at the 605 round mark. I have tested with different lots and brands of ammo (all factory ball) with the same results. In fact I even used the same mags/ammo lots in my last remaining functional XDm (3.8 stainless compact) and they work fine in it SO FAR.
I haven't called SA yet on the OD XDm...but that is what will have to happen. I am seriously considering getting it fixed and then selling ALL THREE. I guess it's time to drink the Glock Kool-Aid and by myself a couple of G19s. Pics below can be clicked for larger version. I took all these with my iPhone today - and keep in mind these are NOT the same FTEs and FTFs from different angles these are ALL different rounds! The blurring on the slide is where I Photoshopped out my serial number.
EDIT: It turns out this was all caused by insufficient lubrication which I go into detail about on page 8 of this thread. Link below if you wanna skip ahead:
