I've seen this argument here on INGO more than a few times now. You can make all the racist clubs on campus you want - as long as it isn't a "White" club.

I suggested this a couple times when I was in college (mostly making fun of all the other clubs). Most people looked at you like you were wanting so start holding klan meetings

We've accepted that it's always okay for the "underdog" to have special advantages. We have handicaps in golf, bowling, shooting sports, etc. We make laws that give the disadvantaged extra help. We have minimum wages. We have welfare. We create societal programs like affirmative action in hopes to level the field. Some people worship equality so much that we manufacture artificial opportunity, which has the effect of disadvantaging people even more. We have to realize, entropy happens. **** just wants to settle towards a universal equilibrium despite our efforts to manufacture localized equality.

Clubs are pretty much the same concept. It's okay for minorities to have clubs exclusive to that minority. It's not okay for majorities to have clubs exclusive to the majority. That's not an "equal" enough outcome for society. Society feels better about itself as being more equal, if it creates artificial advantages and disadvantages. Because the majority has the advantages that come with being in the majority, handicapping the them seems fairer, more equal, than making the rules even across the board. So we perpetuate the differences in skin pigment as if minorities and majorities in that should matter at all.

I find it interesting that we can all celebrate our heritage in the form of:
- NAACP
- Black Student Union
- Irish Festival
- German Klub
- Jewish Student organizations
- etc...

but, as soon as someone whats to celebrate their "white anglo-saxon" heritage, we all have a cow (I suppose that would be the Hindu Club).

I really wish the unwashed masses could distinguish between pride in your own heritage, from actual racism. The two are completely remote from each other. I can enjoy the benefits of marrying into a family with strong Italian roots, without hating ANYONE else.
