I'm guessing that a high percentage of folks are packin' in Gary and that just about any location in Gary would not be a healthy target choice for a mass shooter, senior citizen hangout or otherwise. Chalk another one up for Darwin!

After a couple of close calls there myself, would advise all to be packin and vigilant. Can't blame anybody for defending themselves there, or anywhere, times have changed. Gary was a solid city up to the 80's, Mills slowed down, gangs moved in, older folks moved out. Read somewhere that the population dropped from 180,000, to 90,000 in 20 yrs. Do the math, 90,000 people left, what percentage are the remaining citizens to crime, and what are left? Survivors.
Might send a couple of boxes of ammo to that club for members to rearm! Glad they stood up, and did not accept defeat/death that could have been inflicted.
Let's hope they won't be petty charged for discharging a weapon, license violations, battery, assault, whatever.
Should be good to go, with a message. Don't try it, you won't like it! Go rob someone else.

Yep... ""We're in Indiana, they [are] from Illinois, they don't know people got permits to carry guns, so bang bang, that is what happened," Sturgis said."

And from the other article: "This marks another incident in which armed citizens were successful in mitigated the harm potential of a would-be tragedy, saving the lives of themselves and nearby innocents. Without the means of self-defense, the body count could have been much higher, as Mr. Lay pointed out."

    What a concept.
