I've been a pain in the keester in many of my replies over the last few months on this site…..more than the typical grumpy old man attitude I usually have.

I've had some severe back problems over the last 14 weeks, making it impossible to move around at times and it appeared that my shooting, reloading and gun building days were rapidly disappearing.

A recent MRI showed problems and I didn't like the solutions the docs offered.

But, I awoke this morning pain free. It's like being on a drug, not having any pain.

So, to those who I've offended in the past 3 months who thought I was just an uber-butthole, I'm sorry.

What did the MRI show? Been there, BTW.

My MRI showed a shadow invading my spinal column. Ruptured disc goop putting pressure on the spinal nerves. A neurosurgeon fixed me up. This was after 2 months of intense pain. Very effective way to lose weight btw. I remember getting in my car to drive to work. After sitting for about a minute, I would scream from a sharp pain that would then pass. The next challenge was getting to stand up from the car-more pain that would lighten. Then the stiff walk to the lab. Rinse, lather, repeat. The operation instantly fixed the pain. That was over 30 yrs ago. No more incidents like that. I think I was meant to be a philosopher, not a day laborer.......Good luck!

If you're not offending someone on the internet,
    you're not doing it right!

Nobody likes a pain in the back.

I grok that pain. I carried a wooden staff like Moses to walk and bend. I'm surpised I didn't part the street from throwing my arms up with my staff and yelling when I hit a foot placement the wrong way. Scared the bejaysus out of the neighbors. No one came by on Halloween.

Spinal stenosis, swollen nerves, disk bulges. I'm not much of a fan of any back surgery. I've got a good friend in Calif who may end up never walking again because of a nicked dura during surgery, complicated by some form of infection from the titanium rods they installed.

I think what happened last night is that the disks must have finally realigned while I was sleeping, eliminating pressure on the nerves. I'm a happy camper.

The real upside of this whole process was that I met the prettiest PT specialist at the VA who really did give me some good ideas on how to take pressure off my lower back and hips when I had to do something in a standing position. Gorgeous woman.

Pain will make ya a wee bit cranky that's for sure. Takes a man to say sorry. God knows I've said it enough! I apologized to all the cops on INGO a few weeks ago, I think they already had me on ignore so I don't think it mattered much. But your a stand up guy for saying it. So a pain free +1 for you!!

I Can totally sympathize with you. I get grumpy and meaner when I'm hurting worse too. Back pain due to a permanent injury will ruin everything. I have learned to cherish good days, hours or minutes. I wasn't able to even get ou to shoot for a whole year. It killed me.

Been there, done that. Finally, after about 7 years I'm standing and walking really well as long as it's not too far and doesn't involve anything bendy. Inversion table helped a lot of it. I have, however, been practicing my curmudgeonry, though mostly it comes off sounding like I'm demented.

I commend you for opening up to being rather mean and nasty.

I think I will miss those posts. Lots of times people respond like I would want
to but i get to mad at them to even post. I now stay out of all political posts. I feel much better.
