I saw a XD with a thumb safety , do they make this model in a two tone maybe even in the XDM model , in either 40 or 45acp ?
any of the XD crowd like the thumb safety model , or is the XDM better ?

I personally don't appreciate a thumb safety on anything but my 1911's. I like my XD 45 just the way it is. The presence of the Grip safety and trigger safety are all the XD needs. My personal opinion of course.

Part of what makes the polymer framed guns (choose your poison) so efficient is the lack of user controls, in other words, the point and click interface. With that said, I'm still primarily a 1911 guy even though I've been working with glocks and other poly framed guns lately.

whatever you like better is most important. Like many others have said the thumb safety is kind of unnecessary on the XDs, but if you like it then go for it.

Last I knew, the thumb safety was only an option on the XD45 - no other models.

I wouldn't want one on mine.

The Xd is what I carry now due to the safety features it has. It is the only striker fired gun I feel comfortable carrying without a manual safety of some sort. I think the thumb is necessary if you like the added comfort but design wise the XD/XDM is good without it.

No thumb safety on the XDM. Only an option on the XD 45.

Unnecessary IMHO. Keep your finger out of the trigger guard. Grip safety also helps.

I'm a Glock owner so the lack of a thumb safety does not bother me , but I am partial to a 1911 , so I just prefer one.
