    Now here is something you might think of, but here is a civilian 16GA German side by side. 16 ga 2.5 inch chamber. From what I can see underneath the barrels when I take it apart it was made in the 30s. Even the civilians were disarmed when Germany fell in WWII. My grandfather was part of the Golden Acorn division, and brought this back with him.

    I just wish that 16gauge 2.5 inch shells were not nearly impossible to find.

    Wow - that's wild. My grandfather had a very similar side-by-side, but he didn't go overseas. I'll check with my dad (who I think has it now), but I seem to remember that we figured out it was Italian, of about the same vintage.

    Those old guns are like works of art.
