My wife wants to go hunting over Thanksgiving this year. We are leaving the bows at home and going to use firearms. We've gone shooting and she can handle a 20ga pump with slugs. I also have a .44mag bolt action rifle that she could use. She has yet to take her first deer, so I'm wanting to put the odds in her favor as much as possible. How would the recoil compare between the two?

    Thanks,
    R

Your best bet is to take both guns out to a range and let her try them out. If she has not shot either one then she needs to. She needs to shoot each one to see what she likes best and to see how they shoot.

No need to put her in the hunt with a gun she has never shot in hopes she get a good shot off.

Its not the recoil you should worry about. Its shot placement. Take her out and let her shoot both. Which ever one she shoots best is the one to use.
