If you are sleeping downstairs, it would probably be best to locate your safe on the lower level.

I would not put it anywhere that is not finished out. First - it will be in the way if you do try to finish the room and second - humidity levels and high temps could put your weapons in danger of over heat and moisture.

I would make sure it is covered up. In a closet or the like. A safe seen by contractors, service people, party goers, kids friends, etc. is advertising that there is something of value inside to steal.

Loose lips sink ships and it happens.

Yeah, make sure it is out of sight.
Right now, my gunsafe can be seen through the window of my study.
Plans are to build a wood cabinet to surround it.

Definitely out of site if you can. Preferably downstairs, but if the lack of room is definitely an issue. Then upstairs, just make sure keep them wiped down often, and get some kind of dehumidifier to mount in the safe to help keep moisture out. Not to mention if it's upstrairs, it's going to make it hard on would be thiefs. If getting to your safe, in a timely matter is a concern. Keep a pistol, and shotty with exta mags and ammo downstairs with you. My :twocents:

More than likely, after its full, if your like me it'll have too much weight for the second floor.Least I'm not bowing the floor in my house. Mine probibly weighs 1400lbs plus.!/2 full of ammo.

Just, as above, where it's hidden from view. Think about it. Most of the time when someone breaks into a house, and attempts or succeeds in breaking into/stealing a safe, they already KNOW it's there. If they DON"T know it's there, then the motivation isn't there, and the odds go way way down.
