I WAS THINKING ABOUT BUYING A COLT M1911 A1 WITH GOLD PLATING AT THE 1500, BUT THE GOLD WAS WORN OFF A LITTLE. ANYONE KNOW WHAT IT WOULD COST ME TO HAVE THIS REDONE WITH GOLD PLATING? ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANKS,

On a serious note. I know nothing about plating a firearm, but do know solid gold is going for $1000 an ounce.

i dont do plating however i can check when i get home in a few days and send you the phone number of who i send plating stuff off to... i dont know if they do gold pating though.

I have had a gold plated trumpet. Gold looks and sounds great but it does not wear well. Long lasting it isn't.

I ve plated gold in the past, and dont do it now. Its not very long lasting, doesnt hold up well and requires maintenance.
