Alright, I'm expecting a decent tax refund, and a new gun is in my future. I was looking into a BUG at first, but I wouldn't mind a full size in 9mm. I currently have a XDM 40 and I'd like to branch out from Springfield; they're great guns but I like a variety :D.

This gun will be for plinking, carry, and possibly competition (most likely USPSA). I decided on 9mm for...well, because I don't have one and it is a bit cheaper than .40. $800 is my limit, with the remaining funds going towards ammo.

    BUGs:
    Ruger LCR
    Ruger SP101 in .357

    Autos:
    M&P 9c
    G17 gen4
    M&P Spec Ops 9
    Sig 226 SRP 9
    Beretta 92fs

Please share any experiences with these guns, or suggest a different one. I would like to eventually add a suppressor to whatever I get (minus the compact and revolvers), so drop-in threaded barrels may be in my future if I move away from the Spec Ops or SRP. Please, edumacate me :ingo:

wow, all are great but i gotta put my vote in for the glock. the g17 makes a great gun for competition since you mentioned getting into that. you really cant go wrong with any of those you listed, but i am a big glock fan so i had to put in a vote fot the 17. my second choice would be the sp101, very sweet shooting gun in my opinion. good luck in your decision.:ingo:

For what you are going to use it for ,The Beretta is great with the Sig 226 a close second.mags & accessories for the Beretta are plentiful & mags are easy to find & affordable.

One question, does USPSA allow a rail on the firearm? If not, your list is going to quickly diminish.

If a rail doesn't matter, go with the either of the M&P semi-autos, they're really tough to beat.

Good luck and let us know what you decide on.

M&P 9 with the APEX Tactical Hardened Sear

:+1: What he said... Just imagine a polymer tactical pistol with a 1911 trigger. Now that's fun!

The cost is somewhere around $500 for the M&P and $29 for the sear. Now that's a bargain.
