I'm venturing into my first bolt action rifle. It's a savage in .308 20" threaded barrel with 10 round magazine (model: 10 FCP-SR those who are curious). I have never used a bi-pod so I'm asking you which bipod I should buy. I know this gun won't get shot a lot so I'm looking for quality at a reasonable price.

I like the Atlas but it's rare I've found a situation where a Harris wouldn't work just as well, and at a much more reasonable price.

I definitely like the Atlas better, but its more than 2x the cost, and I dont think its 2x as nice. I was shooting in mud a few days ago, and it was much easier to load.

    Atlas or GG&G

But my 6-9" Shooters Ridge (Harris copy) does well enough, especially with an American Defense QD mount.

Still, one day I'll get an Atlas to upgrade

We did a little shooting at Alan's a few weeks ago. We were ranging unknown distant targets. A bipod was easier than a sling when trying to get an accurate scope reticule measurement. Followup shots and switching target to target was easier with a sling imo.
