    Just curious. What is this rifle the guardsman are using at Buckingham Palace?

    If you go to the Wiki link and click on the picture of the bayonet. It looks like the handle of the bayonet acts as a flash hider with the bullet traveling through the handle. There is even an indention in the barrel that looks like the bullet exits out beside the blade. Someone else look at it and see what they think.

    Yep, the bayonet is a flash suppressor and the blade is definitely offset to one side to not interfere with operation.

    On another note, which I'm sure a multitude of bigots here will disagree with me about, I really like the fact that Sikh Buckingham Palace guards are allowed to wear their traditional beards and headwear.
