I am starting to add up number of rounds fired in each weapon and it is starting to get pretty high. Just wondering what your highest round count would be and in what weapon?
my 6 month old Glock 17 has aroughd 5000, I think tahts alot for how long I have had it rounds through it. All of the rest of my guns are relatively "low" round count other than my shotguns and 22s which I do not keep track of.
At a conservative guess I would estimate well over 150,000 rounds through this L-Frame, perhaps as high as 200,000. It was shot by Robby Leatham for 4-5 years for NRA Action Pistol before I bought from him and I shot it for 3 years before going to an auto.
I know one competitor who shoots 500 rounds a day. His ammo is also paid for by his sponsors though. I shoot 10-30 rounds a day with about 90% being .22lr. I'd shoot my bigger guns more but that's all my ammo budget allows (yes, I actually have an ammo budget!).
It would have to be a Ruger Mark II I bought at the military exchange in 1984. I couldn't even guess how many tens of thousands rounds have been thru it. Many times the .22's are the only things we take to the range when time is tight. So nice not having to tumble brass when we get home everytime we go out.
As for centerfires... G22 5000+ ( mostly .357 sig)
G35 5000+ ( mostly .357 sig)
Xd-45 tactical closer to 10,000
Xd- 45 service 5000+
wifes kahr CW-9 already over 1000
Similar for me, though my Buckmark could be closer to 20,000. Colt 1911 Combat Elite and King Cobra both shot stock in competition probably 8,000 to 10,000 and still solid, accurate and tight.
DieselTundra and I went out after work today and went from .22 to .40 to .357sig to 9mm to .45 in the space of half an hour or so. OK ok... so we only shot 10 or 12 of each.... First time out for the spiffy .357 barrel I got from Mauie Wowie22 on Sigforum. Wow! Those things hum. Changed my thoughts on the threaded barrel use. Probably NOT a silencer. More likely a compensator. Man, I haven't looked at typical ballistics yet, but those things are moooooovin' on down the range.
When I was shooting Action Pistol heavily I would shoot through the plates and the practical twice every day. That was 200 rounds. And a couple times a week I would shoot through the entire match twice, 384 rounds. this all through one gun. I would shoot probably another 500 rounds of various ammo per week. I was shooting trap and skeet back then too as well as three gun matches, full auto matches etc. Sponsored competitors like Ken Tapp would easily shoot 70-80,000 a year. Of course this is mostly reloads back when I could buy jhp's for 4 cents apiece. As you can see it is easy to build a high round count if you shoot competitively.
My GSG MP 5 has had about 30,000 rounds through it. They replaced the barrel last time it went in for fixin'. I shot brick after brick through that thing when I got it.
My buddy bought his CZ75b before several of us in college bought guns, it would be nothing for us to put a case of ammo through it a weekend. I think at last guess he said 35-40K rounds. It needs mag springs and an ejector but the last couple shots I put through it, it was still pretty accurate but failed to eject and failure to feed was every other shot. He bought it new from a Pawn shop for maybe $300 in 1998-99.
