True. Old Ravens were reliable. Now..... It would be High Point if you ignore people who blather on and on about what they have no personal knowledge of. :rockwoot::patriot:

Go to Plainfield Shooters Supply and buy the cheapest Kel Tec they have. Likely the P32 for $199 (used) or $229 (new?).

    Might even get one cheaper.

Or, even find the P3AT or P11 for not so much more. They all work, and work fine, imo.

The cheapest gun I've bought that worked is my Kel-Tec P11. It'll never be my favorite gun, but it might be with me when I need a gun.

I'll second the CZ52. I got one for $115 and spent another $100 at Knob Creek during the Machine gun shoot for 2,448 rounds of ammo. Kinda hard to beat I think.

    Kel-Tec P11.

I forget what my wife paid new, but it went bang every time, and we did OK when we sold it too.

    Bersa Thunder .380

When you take out what I would have paid for an extra magazine and ammo, I paid ~$175 for a gun with only one box of ammo through it.

    S&W 19-3

OK, this is a ringer, but if you only count the value of the gun I traded for it I did pretty well. It shoots far better than I am capable of most times.

I would vote this way though...
For under $200 - Hi Point or Makarov
    Under $250 - Thunder .380
    Under $300 - P-11
    Under $350 - Tie P-Series or Sigma
    Under $400 - ???
Under $450 - XD (yup I saw XDs at the 1500 for $449)
    Under $550 - XD
    Under $650 - XD

Well, you see where I'm going...

    For revolvers...

Under $300 - any nice 3-screw Ruger or DA "Sixes" you can find (good luck).
Under $400 - any nice pinned and recessed S&W Model 15 or 19 (good luck).

My first non rimfire pistol was a chrome plated Raven with ivory-like grips. Still have it. Rugged to hell was the Seecamp 25 I got when they were new. Carried that in a little slipcase my uncle made until I found out what it was worth. Put it away and moved to Kel Tec 32's and 3AT's.

I was always leery of slide bite from the Raven in my chubby hand.

Every thread on High Points contains several owners, end even owners of multiple HP guns (like myself) that don't think they are all that, and don't think they are worth the $150, and yet the HP fanatics never seem to take notice.

Apparently us Glock guys aren't the only ones drinking the Koolaid! :D

The cheapest Gun I would trust would be a Bersa or KelTec. Milsurp CZ, such as the 82, would be wonderful as well. If i wanted a new carry gun ont he cheap I would look into a KelTec PF9 or a P11 first, and a Bersa Thunder second.
