What I did on my Spring Vacation

well, after joining the ranks of the unemployed (laid off a week ago friday), the wife and i set out to my long-awaited leg three of my Grand Slam....

off to South Texas, hunting with Mike Stroff and the staff of Southern Outdoor Experience ( SOE Hunts:Home )

during a 3 day hunt, i saw over 100 longbeards. due to a poor hatch last spring, there are no jakes- but a huge abundance of noisy 2-year olds!




day three of the hunt, i finally dropped the hammer, and took these 2 birds with ONE SHOT!!!

here is a pic taken from my setup, note decoy in foreground, and the two birds. the further one flopped a few yards before fully expiring:
