What system or stones do you use to sharpen your blades? Do you have any tips for someone new to caring for knives? Know of any particularly helpful tutorials that helped you get started?

    Thanks!

Just this evening I used a Spyderco Sharpmaker I received for Christmas to sharpen all the knives in our kitchen knife drawer. Some were cheaper knives and some nicer. All were sharpened to a much improved edge by the Sypderco unit! :yesway:

Run a search and you will find a lot of information on this subject.

    I use the Spyderco Sharpmaker.

I gave up on Lansky, sharpmaker for me. Shaving sharp on my smaller knives. My big ones need some reprofiling though with the diamond rods first.

    Stones

You cab find stones at any good shop that sells knives. You could also search ebay and turn up a source. Shipping might be as much as the stone though!

DMT ADELUXE Aligner Deluxe Knife Sharpening Kit

I have used other systems but this diamond set of stones with the included guide has been the best and easiest to use. I would recommend it to anyone that is knife sharping challenged.

Dang Double Tap, if this new laptop were a gun I would be kicked off INGO for unsafe handling!

I just purchased an Edge Pro, its a bit pricey but does a fine job. Easy to use. I've learned more about knife blades and angles and metal harnesses in the last 2 weeks then the last 30 years. I've been bringing it to all the fire houses to practice on different knives shapes/sizes/metal types. /rant
