    As some of you may remember I had trouble with my Smith 610 revolver in that the cylinder release bolt was not long enough to open up the cylinder, you had the force it.

    This time I've got a Smith 686 4-in that I'm having similar problems with, only this time The bolt is hanging up on a ridge in the frame (see picture). I'm not sure yet what I'm going to do about it.

    It is fairly damaged. Someone likely forced the cylinder open, they are known for the release getting loose and causing the issue.
    I would probably try to file it a little at a time and check the results. If that did not work I would send it in to S&W
