I see these all the time in my basement whenever it's warm and humid...

I'm pretty sure they don't bite, so there legs must me sharp or something... Instead of jumping out of the way and trying to hide, the lunge for you and actually sting when they land on you.

little bastard didn't bite me! He's outside now, roaming around! Our Rottweiler was curious over it, but kept staring and making weird noises instead of eating it. lol Glad I got a chance to can it up and figure out what it was!

I've got 'em in my crawlspace. I've always called them moon crickets. I have seen the same thing, i think, but larger, in some caves in Kentucky.

crazy! I'm going to keep an eye and them. Maybe if I inject them with H1N1, we might see something cool....

I've always called them "hopping spiders"

I just killed 2 tonight. Seen hundreds/thousands. Ugly and jumpy. Kill 'em all'

I had to laugh when I saw this thread. My Alaska born and raised wife had never seen a cricket before (the little black ones). We were getting our bicycles out from under their covers and she screamed and jumped about three feet backwards when she saw one! Anyway, I thought it was funny. She wasn't amused. I suppose they could look scary if you'd never seen one before. I taught her how to tell the temperature by counting the number of chirps they make. She's not afraid of them now.

My cat found one yesterday. It was in a 3rd floor apartment though.

It was the first time our cat, Leo, has even seen one. Leo didn't like it very much as he hissed and growled at it until I threw it in the toilette. He never growls and rarely ever hisses.
