VOTING LESSER OF TWO EVILS WON'T SAVE AMERICA
... Also vote your conscience. I would rather live with myself knowing I voted for someone who would uphold the Constitution then to vote for someone who is going to run headlong off of a cliff, albeit one step behind the other guy.
That last line is a doozy.

I have heard from several people that I should not vote Libertarian because my vote would be a "waste"...
Voting for the lesser of two evils is still voting for evil.
I don't know how anyone justifies that.
Especially when you have a "not-evil" option.
I'm really tiring of the idea that the two concepts are mutually exclusive and that--as the author of the article implied--voting for the lesser of two evils makes me un-American, or unworthy of being in her country.
What a crock of crap. To hear half of INGO speak, voting for anybody is a vote for evil since all politicians are inherently evil and in need of a lobotomy and attitude re-adjustment.
Besides, I don't see that there is a "not evil" option if evil is defined as how closely a candidate aligns with my views.
You can play the game by the real world rules that exist, or you can play the game according to the rules you wish existed.
If you truly believe that both "evil" parties are equal, it makes sense to vote third party.
If you truly believe that both parties are evil, but one is less evil, and you vote for a third party you don't think has a chance to win, but your vote will help the more evil party, you are voting against your interests.
Do you think your ideals about how the country should be are achievable? I've decided that my ideals can't be achieved. Now what should I do? The best I can do is influence the system to be less socialist, rather than more.
Libertarianism is a small voice in the Republican Party. The Democrat Party has completely and totally rejected libertarian values. I'll vote Republican, not because I'm a loyal Republican, not because I believe they'll save the country, not because their record has been great. Simply because their version of socialism is more diluted than the Dems.

I'm glad to see that a microcosm of a microcosm of the electorate are willing to vote Libertarian. Have at it; I hope they do well, but they aren't going to do well enough to have a realistic chance of getting elected and I'm not willing to "gamble" on Libertarians being effective in their small numbers. At some point, there will either be a national groundswell away from the Republicans and toward the Libertarians, or the Libertarians will gradually fade away. Right now, you aren't making a convincing case to enough of the general population. I won't say your vote is wasted; no vote is wasted, but your vote will most likely be ineffective on a national level.
