HD is the newer line, but PST Gen II still comes in $100 more on average.
Which is the better OTICAL scope?

When it comes to pure clarity who wins?

there's subtle differences otherwise, the main being how the zero stop works, and push button vs rotary illumination. One big one that most people don't care about but is big to me is low end parallax adjustment. HD down to 20 PST down to 25.

Just looking for some budget glass for a .22 trainer and these two popped up on the short list.

    Thanks for any input

In the last two months I have bought two of the Vortex Venom 5-25x56
First Focal Plane (MRAD) riflescope is built for long-range and competition with a 5-25x mag range built into a 34mm tube for a massive amount of turret travel (25 MRAD max elevation/windage).

I bought them off Amazon for $420.00 plus tax, super fine recitals in them, my original thought was to mount one on my Cooper 22LR and then it ended up on a PSS in 300 mag and I was happy so I ordered another and it went on a PSS in 223.
When buying I feel like I'm slumming spending so little on a scope. But so far they have preformed well. I believe in the new few weeks I will buy a third and put in on my Cooper. Now make sure you can get the rings you want with them being 34MM if you go this route.

I wanted to buy local, but I paid for these with Visa Gift cards that my bestie earned at the casino. Out local Vortex dealer does not take Visa Gift cards for purchases.
I know with bore sighting these starting at 25 yds or so it was easy to get a crystal clear sight picture with these.
They have the stop feature in them, but I have not installed the stop rings as of yet.
I wish you were closer, to shoot with one of them.

    Appreciate the offer:thumbsup:

I like the idea of the 34mm tube and parallax down so low, but wasn't sure of the glass on the Venom line.

I literally just hit enter and ordered a 5-25 Viper PST II as I couldn't pass it up at $525. I'm still curious and now even more curious of not only where the PST stands against the HD but also against the rest of the line up given the different costs.

Im a huge Leopold, Night Force guy. I bought a Vortex about two years ago for 700 or 800 bucks maybe, and I saw these and said, self, lets slum a bit and see if they work. Loads of light in 34MM.
The next gift card she gets, I will order a third one. Its like they are dumping them with no one buying 34MM scopes. I dont know, but I'm a happy guy so far.
If I remember tomorrow I will post pics of the end label off the boxes.

I've had a PST Gen II on my rimfire trainer for a few years. The glass is decent, especially for the distances you'll be shooting it. My only real complaint would be the 70 MOA of elevation adjustment. I have access to a range where I can finally stretch it out. I'm curious to see what distance I run out of adjustment and am afraid I'll want something with more adjustment soon.

Use a 20° or 40° base on it.
