In Chicago, sales taxes are 11.5%. Basically all other taxes are pretty high as well. When I run over to Lansing for beer on Sunday, they tack on an additional alcohol tax at the register. My dad is expecially irritated as they add an additional ~$1 at the register for his whiskey.
