I wish they made better "extended range" LRF's......i've spent a lot of time on the "unknown distance ranges" on base...but they don't really go beyond the range of the ACOG....so I'd like to have something that's quick .....just use it with the bolt gun if I ended up needing it

shot at "man sized tagets" at 800 meters with it?;)

Would love to have a .223 that is accurate to 800 meters. That's pushing the 1000 yard mark never seen any .223 do that. I can't reach out much more than 500 yards with my custom 20" and a 4x12 leupold. Although I have smacked man sized targets in between 200-300 yards with my eo tech.

no offense...but there's something wrong then....we have to qualify at 500 meters with iron sights at least once a year

if it weren't possible then they wouldn't mass produce ACOG sights with pre-set marks for those ranges

I hope that you account for wind...because anything beyond 200-300 yards and even a little wind will shift the round

This would be hard to beat.

    TA31F ACOG - Trijicon, Inc.

I have this and really like it. As mentioned in my post on page 1, I have an Ampoint (4MOA) and the ACOG model shown.

ACOG gets the nod for its lack of batteries, and the magnification and rage estimation reticle give it and advantage at long range.

Where I think the Aimpoint really shines is again back to the close range stuff, but the ACOG would certainly work very well for that as The1Kidd03 has been mentioning.

To be honest, even though I have both, if I could have just 1, I would have the ACOG.

    WTF?
    800 m = 874.890 yd

the .223 is more than capable at 800 meters if you know what you are doing.

i have ran my acog and 62grain green tips to 700 and achieved over 75 percent hits. the misses can be accounted to either wind, or shooter. and there is nothing "match" or "custom" on my rifle.

put the time in on the range and 600-800 yards is NOT a miracle shot.

Aimpoints are at the top of the game for what they do.

ACOGs are at the top of the game for what they do.

Chose the one that best fits your purpose.

    Just had a GENIUS idea...

Not sure if this is feasible, I'm sure I could find someone who could make it work...

Aimpoint AND Trijicon on Larue QD pivot mounts.

its been almost 3 years, and i am still getting used to it. there is still much military in me, but then again the FD is sort of paramilitary so maybe its a good thing.

that's because eotech provide no more ( if not less) reliability and versatility than that of basic iron sights.......require batteries, fragile, not effective at variety of ranges= SUCKS IMO....nothing more than a "tactiCOOL" device which work FAR better in video games than real life

I dont know if i would go that far. eotechs and aimpoints have seen combat service all around the world and to great success.... they just fill a differant niche market.

also, eotechs can be found mounted on crew served weapons. i think thats where they really shine over the aimpoints because it definatly increases your field of view.
