After seeing another recent thread with a Hi-Point C9 in it, I tossed the picture into a photo editing program to see if I could make it more "aesthetically appealing".

I'm not a whiz at this stuff, and I only spent 10 minutes on it, but I think it solves the 2 major issues with current Hi-Points:

    1) The slide height is crazy silly tall. The slide even comes up above the barrel itself, which seems like wasted airspace.

    2) The grip sits waaaay to far forward in relation to the slide, almost in the middle of the gun.

Here is the stock before photo:

And here is my chopped version, with a slide height reduction and grip relocation:

What do you Hi-Point fans think??

The size of the HP slide is necessary, since the gun is blowback operated and relies solely on slide mass to keep the action closed during peak pressure. If you're going to make the slide shorter in height, you'd either have to make it longer, or find some other way to maintain the weight.

    Jus' sayin'...

You mean make a slide out of steel, what a novel idea.

I like the photo-shopped pics, but doing what you suggest would raise the price and defeat the purpose of what Hi-Point was designed to do which is to make basic, reliable, American made firearms that anybody can afford. :patriot:

I have no doubt that Hi-Points have a lot of fans and may be reliable, but I'm not sure you can make a gun any uglier than they did.

In the end, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and you gotta give them credit for producing such an affordable gun.

Make them out of lead........ then they would be better equipped to be
their current best use. Boat Anchor.

    I Keed! I Keed! :D

I can't wrap my mind around the Oversize boxy slide.
Time for steel and a modest bump in price might do wonders for sales.

How about a special hi-point "slim" version in steel with a higher price
tag and see what sales are like???

A speer gold dot +p is just as effective as one from a glock with the same length barrel at close range for self defense.

Hmmm reminds me of a certain movie... ("A bullet from a 14 year old is just as effective as a bullet from a 40 year old"-Lord of War)
