Grandstanding. Trying to 'prove' that the citizens want what HE wants. Most of the citizens do not want the restrictions he's pushing. If they did you wouldn't have any problem locating the ammo and magazines you are so desperately seeking.

that "we have an obligation to try" thing... that word... "try" ... it almost sounds like he's conceding somewhat... as if, he knows it'll go nowhere but he wants to give it a go, just the same, to save face with his supporters... "I tried..."

my kids say that... "ok, dad... I'll try" when they think they can't do something...

speaks to his mindset - I think he knows he won't get what he wants...

The only obligation they have is to uphold the Constitution. Any attempt to TRY to circumvent the Constitution would be grounds for dismissal.

    What is this 'deserve'?

Is it a right or is it a privilege?

Likewise, is this a nation of law or a nation of man?

A federal budget seems to deserve a vote, but Harry Reid hasn't taken one on one in 4 years... Maybe our president should call attention to that.

No, an unconstitutional bill does not deserve a vote!

If a bill was always obviously "unconstitutional," there would be no reason for the Supreme Court, nor most courts in general. You would effectively be eliminating a third of our government..... and probably the most important.
