350 5.7LBig block?
I'm not sure I could afford to drive it...it is bad enough now with gas prices being what they are. I just fill her every other day whether she needs it or not. LOLmaybe it is time to upgrade to a big block
An LS swap would be better.maybe it is time to upgrade to a big block
Yep...that one is my 84. My 89 has the TBI.What year is that 84ish?
Is it still carbureted?
Does it smoke? Seems like it should be if it's burning through that much oil.Sunny here but only 17 degrees. She's either thirsty or has developed a leak that isn't showing on the garage floor. I usually use about a quart between oil changes. I add the third quart today since the last change 1500 miles ago. That is not okay.
I was told no LS engines. I have to obey the mechanic's wishes. He is old school. I have no problem with the carb.An LS swap would be better.
Nope. It used to do the blue puff on start up but replacing the valve seals eliminated that.Does it smoke? Seems like it should be if it's burning through that much oil.
LS's can be carbed. Still need the harness and ECM though. Old school swap is easier, but the LS is more efficient over all.I was told no LS engines. I have to obey the mechanic's wishes. He is old school. I have no problem with the carb.
We try to avoid the ECM. My 89 and the 92 pickup have it but we couldn't pass up the 92 for $3K for a rust-free spare truck.LS's can be carbed. Still need the harness and ECM though. Old school swap is easier, but the LS is more efficient over all.
ATK is pretty good, and yes Jegs has a core charge. Probably 4-500.I found an ATK that fits. 4 bolt main. $1725.00 plus shipping and maybe the core charge. I figure for under $3K, he can have it as good as new.
