    In the shadows
    one BIG bush , i need to spread it out . The people that had the house befor ,put pig fence around it , i need to take that down and get the vines out of it and spread the plant out

    Sam, does that mean your plants are wild? Blackberries only produce on second year growth so the age of the plants shouldn't matter. The put out new canes every year.

    Not wild, I planted 4 bushes there 5 years ago. Now we have 7 or 8 in the same run. They have spread.

    Our berries are tame, no thorns, hubby didn't want tame ones cause he thought they weren't as tasty so we had two patches. These are so good that I finally mowed down the wild ones cause they were so thorny I couldn't keep the weeds out of them.
