I bet some people actually do keep loaded guns under their pillow, no safety and no holster of course, and someone laying next to them.
I keep mine loaded (the one next to me, not anything under my pillow), but I always have the safety on at night. Fortunately I've never had to use it. There have been a couple nights my dog alerted me to something outside but it always turned out to be something silly like the neighbors coming home really late. One night he went absolutely NUTS and I was certain I would have to shoot someone. Turned out to be a fight across the street....between raccoons
