I want to get a 1911 also, but I want to get a TRP or the like, so that will have to wait.

I really like the Glock compacts, but for a full size pistol I actually prefer the M&P over a Glock 17.

I carry a TRP almost everywhere I go!

If I could only keep 1 of my handguns that would be it....

Sweet, that's the same I am looking to pick up... The .40's and the 10mm's recoil the worst. The .45's and 9mm's recoil about the same...

There is definitely a difference in recoil with the gen4 G23 compared to a gen2. When shot back to back the gen4 is much softer shooting.

My GSG 1911 has really given me the bug to get a .45 1911, but I want to buy quality the first time. If you don't have a GSG 1911 definitely look into it. It's an awesome gun to practice with.:yesway:

I played with one at the last C.P. Gunshow but, they guy wanted $100 too much... Definitely want one!!!

You can get quality without spending TRP money... I love mine but, just picked up an operator that I plan to use as my duty gun as soon as I get my holster that has been on order forever.

I would start with a Springfield Milspec and work my way up from there if I were you.... I could do little stuff like fitting a thumb safety, adding a magwell, switching out a trigger, maybe even a grip safety or hammer if you don't mind me having it for a week and Gutridge in Griffith is awesome for the bigger stuff....

I just wouldn't jump in head first with a lot of money in a gun until you were sure that you liked the platform....

If you know right off the bat you want all those bells and whistles, look into a loaded model, give me $85 and I'll throw on a Smith and Alexander Magwell for ya. It will basically be a budget TRP.

(I put Smith and Alexander Magwells on all my 1911's including my TRP)

It's way too warm here to be getting anymore snow, but this rain is unrelenting.

My dog needs to go out, but my entire yard looks like a lake right now.

Wow, how much rain are you supposed to get tonight / tomorrow morning, looks like we are in for 6 inches of snow up here...
