I think it's a hoax. I've bought him a burger, and eaten burgers with him that someone else bought, but I've never seen him even buy his own burger... let alone buy someone else's. I'm debunking the CM burger myth.

Now that you mention it, I'm in that same boat...I've bought him one, and watched him eat one that someone else bought, but never seen him buy.
