Gander Mountain...... good to browse, prices not usually good. Occasional deal on a used firearms.

Patriot Arms on Maple Ave. Small shop, hours very if I remember right, and not a great selection, but they have been decent to deal with.

Favre's Guns on Fruidridge next Wabash (40). Typically a good shop, good selection, and decent to deal with.

Those are the main ones. Your close(r) to Cayuga (45 minutes from the north end), so Darrel's Custom Firearms in Cayuga is a pretty good shop as well.

If you come over or go home on 36 instead of 70 the Morton Country Store in Morton is worth stopping at. Another interesting place, if you can stomach doing it, is to go over to Paris, IL and check out Crazy Horse Guns.

Here is a list I made last year of places within easy driving distance.

Thank you all. That should curb my needs and cravings for my trip.

I need to go to plainfield shooting supplies as I am down to 100 large magnum pistol primers.

The morton country store is a must stop. Nothing like an old country store.

Since we are talking gun shops, in TH, is the 'big' one, still on 41, south of I-70, they used to sell boats, fishing gear, and a lot of other stuff...
Haven't been there in 4 years...

Poff's was still there when I built the Federal prison. They had a winchester 30-30 canadian centennial model and were asking 300. I should have bought it then. That was before Winchester went under.

I always used Farve's Gunshop for FFL's until the Outpost came along... both have limited selections but are really friendly. Don't go to Gander Mountain unless you just enjoy paying $150+ what a gun is worth. But their selection is good for finding out what you want, then just buying it cheaper off gunbroker or something
