Dissolve the Veterans' Health Administration. Fire all of those bureaucrats and close down the VA hospitals. Issue Platinum health cards to our vets that entitle them to the best health care available at their choice of providers in the private sector. We promised them!

This is tough. I appreciate your passion. The problems at the VA IMO is another case of how mistakes of a few sadly impact so many. I believe there are many care providers in the VA system that truly live that promise you speak of. I have a friend that is without a doubt devoted to the cause. She is well credentialed and could work anywhere else for more money but she chooses to stay at the Indy VA because she is devoted to helping those that served.

I am sure with some you are probably right, some are probably great doctors who are working at the VA for noble reasons. Problem is anything involving the govt is full of corruption and waste. I know many times the VA does not attract the best dr's. I know of several cases when they hired dr's out of private practice who were being investigated for inappropriate behavior. That is just out of the Marion VA. I agree our vets deserve better and as with everything else private run insurance would be more efficient and better care.

Yes there are many good providers working at the VA. That does not change the fact that the government is incapable of running healthcare.

So why wouldn't those great care providers be at least as great in private practice. If there were no VA hospitals, I'm sure you would see private clinics pop up everywhere that specialize on VA specific needs. I just don't think the government should be running a healthcare system. They've proven what we all fear about them, and that's not a knock on those who really care about delivering quality healthcare. It's more about the lethargy of government bureaucracy.
