    Nice backpack. That looks sweet.

I view anything that reduces costs and helps me live more sustainable and self-sufficient as "survival gear." :)

The Self-Sufficient Life and How to Live it

    Herbs!

    A Dovo Straight Razor

A very nice (WARM!) outdoor/hunting jacket.

Food Saver Vacuum sealer, with containers and bags.

And help with a wood stove and thermal drapes and shades for every window in the house. JC Penney had a phenomenal sale the day after Christmas.

It was a wonderful Christmas, except for some family issues with my wife and I's lifestyle choices. Living simple and sufficient does not mean living poor.

Not much except for odds and ends I bought myself, lol.

Otherwise just a few more pairs of merino wool blend socks.

A couple things I bought are one of the Coleman Blackcat catalytic propane heaters. It'll be great for hunting, camping, or power outages. I do hope to get a bigger one of some sort though sometime.
Along with some extra food, ammo, clothes and just other normal things I buy for just in case.

A few things I do plan on getting in the future are, wood stove, bigger power inverter like the Schumacher 1500 watt sold at TSC, and a good hand pump for the well.

My wife gave me an Alladin kerosen mantle lamp. We agreed on a Berkey Royal waterfilter as a joint gift to each other. We need to put our order in on that soon. Other than that, tried to put a bug in the ears of family at Christmas time. We'll see how that goes. Got my younger brother real interested in the copy of Backwoods Home Magazine that I "brought" with. He's started a gardening club at his school, and doing gardening at his home in Chicago. He's trying to get his students interested in gardening and I wish him luck...so anyhow, I might get him a subscription to BHM for his birthday. Sometimes giving a gift can be better than getting one!

    Ummm...

I got 3 packages of pre-cooked bacon... Unfortunately temptation got the best of me, and I said, "Screw Survival" and ate it all...

I got some more gloves for the BOB and some more 123 batteries for the handheld torch.

that reminds me that I don't have a good pair for this.

Recommendations? I notice my cousin and buddies in the Infantry and Scouts all have gloves with some extra protection over the knuckles. What brand are they?

A few companies make them, namely Blackhawk and Hatch. I have thought about getting a pair of the Blackhawks SOLAG HD gloves, just have not pulled the trigger yet.
