A question came up with my cousin the other day when we were considering buying some stripped lowers from PSA on their blemished lower sale. We were both considering buying more than one each, but the question came up about how many you can buy at one time before there are additional regulations come up or your purchase recieves additional attention from the man.

We don't live near each other and we'd have had seperate orders anyway, but it got me wondering. If I ordered 2 I'd assume I'm ok, but what about 3 or 4? What about 10?

Any thoughts? Neither of us ended up buying one for whatever reason, but I'd still like to know the answer just in case I come across a sale like that again.

I've been told by several dealers that in Indiana, there is no per sec limit on buying any amount of rifles per day. So it would stand to reason that the stripped recevers would also have no limit, althought I'll bet that atf may put a eyeball on ya.

    ATF wouldn't know.

The only items that get reported are 2 or more handguns in a 5 day period. Receivers are not handguns, so they aren't reported.

Question: how is a receiver recorded then? if it's recorded as a rifle, my understanding is that it can then never be built as a pistol or it will be an SBR ("once a rifle, always a rifle").

A stripped lower is transferred on the 4473 as "Other" in the check box on page 2, and "Receiver" on the write-in block on page 3.
