    Radical conversions
Last September, a Vancouver woman named Beverly Giesbrecht published her personal reflections on the anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks.

Giesbrecht, 52, used the opportunity to celebrate militant Islam. She talked about the “good news” that the Taliban in Afghanistan were killing NATO soldiers and she praised the “Iraqi Resistance” for killing Americans. The real enemy, she said, was “Zionist-controlled America,” and she called upon the Muslim Ummah — the worldwide Islamic community — to form a united front.

    And, later:

She started travelling to Egypt, Malaysia and other parts of the Muslim world, eventually converting to Islam and adopting the name Khadija Abdul Qahaar. There is no evidence that she has ever committed a crime, or is capable of doing so, but her evolution into a jihadist spokeswoman was a textbook narrative of radicalization.

Shortly after Giesbrecht wrote her reflections on 9/11 last fall, she was kidnapped near the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, where she had gone to meet with and film the Taliban. The Taliban proved more unwelcoming than she expected, and this week a video surfaced of her pleading for help. [Emphasis added]

And from a different source (http://www.canada.com/news/Kidnapped+Canadian+says+beheaded+month/1407267/story.html):

In a video provided to the Globe and Mail and posted on the newspaper’s website, a pale and haggard-looking Khadija Abdul Qahaar, 52, begins to cry as she says her “time is very short and my life is going to end.

“I’m going to be killed, as you can see,” Qahaar says on the video, pointing at a long knife hanging behind her.

“I’m going to be beheaded just like the Polish engineer, probably by the end of the month. The deadline is by the end of March.”

From the end of that article:

“Her primary goal is independent journalism that provides an alternate voice to Western media. She was aware of the risks involved in her latest journey, but had faith in those who were supposed to protect her.”

So apparently it's supposed to be our fault that she was stupid.

Well if she needs saving I volunteer to send IBO to go save her.
I'm sure there are enough of us here that will give him a gun and ammo to go save her.

This is fatal flaw of many of those on the left. They have no committment to reality. They see the world not as it is, but as they think it should be. This woman truly believed that these people weren't members of a dangerous belief system, but that they were only dangerous because of us. The evidence didn't support her, but somewhere down the line she lost the interest or the ability in perceiving reality. Her flawed world vision bumped up against reality, which is harsh to those who don't respect it. In the safety of the good ole' USA, people who can't successfully perceive reality are protected, so she had lots of confidence in her fantasy world view. It's not until that view is tested in the harsh arena of reality that the flaw is exposed.

Ayn Rand based her entire philosophy on this phrase: Existence exists. George Orwell said, "Freedom is freedom to say 2+2=4"

Like the guy who got eaten by the bears after years of preaching that he communed with them, and the guy who died in the Alaska wilderness, this woman discovered painfully and too late that there's a real world out there that doesn't care about the pretty pictures in your head about the way things should be.

I'm cold, let her rot. This is a prime example of, you don't know until you have been there. Maybe this will be a good enough example to show others like her what not to do.

Besides the U.S.A does not negotiate with terrorists. Well, we never used to, maybe Obama can talk some sense into these guys.
