Transportation Security Agency found that Mahler was carrying 7.62 rifle rounds, .50-caliber ammunition and a 40-mm mortar training round when he passed through a checkpoint to take a flight home after training at Camp Atterbury with the 1st Squadron, 221st Cavalry, of the Nevada Guard.
The court-martial, held at Camp Atterbury, decided that Mahler had stolen the ammunition and should serve jail time as punishment.
