I just bought this 686. I plan on killing a deer this year with it. This is my first 686. Where can I find a new rear sight for it? Do they make a hi-viz fiber optic sight for these Smiths? Im just looking for a better sight to hunt with. I dont like optics on handguns. Thanks in advance.

I cant tell from the pick...is the front sight pinned?

What series is it? -1 thru -4 were not pinned if I recall correctly.

I have hunted deer with the 357 for years, and the 686 is a great platform for it.

I reload and use fairly hot rounds for my 6.5in Blackhawk, Buffalo Bore and Double Tap load useful rounds for the task..

Is there something wrong with the factory adjustable rear sight? You can kill a truckload of deer just the way it sets... If you must have another, look at Brownell's

Thats gonna limit your options a bit.

From 50 yards those sights and that caliber should be sufficient.

If you put a heavy (158grn to 180grn) hot loaded 357 in a whitetails wheelhouse they will drop, DRT.

Not sure if it would work on the gun but you may look into it.

Check out the bowen rough country rear sights for the S&Ws. I fell in love with mine. The factory rear sight leaves a lot to be desired for me.

The next picture isn't mine but it's the exact same set up. I have trouble taking pictures of sight pictures.

That revolver is no good for hunting. I'll give you $200 for it so you can go get a good gun. :ingo::D
