I realize there are some 922r issues with SKS modification. That being said IF I purchase a gun with detachable magazines and no bayonet, does it have to stay that way? How would I know if this is the way it was imported? Can I put a stock fixed 10 round mag on it and a bayonet and still be compliant? :dunno:

The SKS was imported with a 10 round magazine and a bayonet. Returning the rifle to this configuration will not raise any eyebrows. (nobody is watching, either)

I hope you are getting it for a good price. Stock SKS is the way to go, but I don't like the weight of the bayonet myself...

Converting it to the import configuration isn't an issue.

That's a great looking stock refinishing you did there. I prefer the SKS with the standard 10 round magazine myself. My SKS was purchased during the ban so no bayo lug for me.

Yes it is a Norinco, I didn't do anything fancy on the refinish. The stock had some kind of almost like shellac or paint on it. I sanded that down to bare wood, used no chemicals to pull any oil out of the wood. After I was satisfied with the sanding, I gave it a few coats of Tru-oil and what you see is 4 or 5 coats, I add another coat every third or fourth time I clean it.
