If you had the money to buy either one, which would it be, and why? I should add that the SP2022 comes with four 10rd mags, a 15rd mag and has a set of these installed:Nitesiters

The P225 has only three mags and stock sights.

Had them both. Sold them both. Would buy another P225, probably not the SP2022.

I liked the thin grip on the single stack P225. I never had any issues with the SP2022, but prefer the metal sigs. The grip on the SP2022 felt bigger than my 226 or 229.

    Conceal carry or house pistol?

I *like* the 225 better but the 2022 is more practical IMHO unless the scant difference in measurements were necessary for your concealed carry needs.

I have an unnatural love for my 228.

That's a pretty large grip then. I've yet to own a polymer Sig, but my 226 is a monster.

Are they the same price? I prefer the 225, but the SP2022 is a lot of gun for the money. I would guess if you could hold both of them, you would decide which fits your hand better pretty quickly.

They would be the same price, but one would require a little bit more traveling. I know the 225 will fit my hand like a glove, I'm just unsure about that 2022.

Either one would perform both duties.

Definately the 2022. Im not a huge fan of the polly sigs but in this case I would go with it.

If you want to fondle an SP2022 they had one at Bradis on yesturday.

I saw it when I picking up my new P229 SAS Gen2

    They also had a two-tone P229R in 9mm.

I've been doing some research and a lot of people confuse the 225 with the P6. What are the tell-tale signs that it's one or the other?

The easiest way to tell is to look at the hammer. The P225 hammer is solid, like your picture. The P6 hammer has a cutout at the back, so the armorer could tell if the gun had been dropped on its hammer.

    Google image P6 hammer.

Ah, I see now. Would the P225 accept the #6 and #8 Meprolights, anyone know?

    .40 and .45 use a 6 & 8.

    9mm and .357 use an 8 & 8.

To answer the OP's question, go for the P225 and never look back.

There is nothing wrong with the 2022. But...The P225 is a work of art.

I have owned MANY Sigs and the P225 is one of the few I would NEVER get rid of. Another is my P229 in .40.

Sure, the P225 only has 8 rd mags. I don't care about that because I know how to change a pistol mag and I always carry a spare or two.

If you can get a P225 for the same price as a 2022, RUN for the P225. The feel of a 225 in your hand cannot be described by words. If you feel both side by side, I think the difference will be obvious.

Now, if you can find a P228, that is a sweetheart too. And, it has 13rd mags. It's like a fat 225.

I don't know if this will be your first Sig or not, but I warn you, they are addictive. It's not a cheap habit either! I personally feel that they make the finest defensive pistols out there with their P-series. Others certainly have different opions and they are not wrong. Different people, different tastes!

I've heard that it's a drop indicator too, but I have also heard that it was slotted to allow armorers to hang the guns on a wire.

I don't know which is true, but I have heard both of these explanations from various sources.

Great post, thanks. This won't be my first or my last. Such an expensive hobby :D

SP2022. I'd rather pay the weight penalty in ammo than gun; in this day and age, the P225 is excessively large and heavy for its limited capacity. Plus, the SP2022s I've handled have all had much smoother triggers than a garden-variety P225 or P6, and the control placement is better for my average-to-large hands.

If you want to fondle an SP2022 they had one at Bradis on yesturday.

    They also had a two-tone P229R in 9mm.

Just got in a new shipment of SIGPros in 9mm and .40, still have the 229R, and have a few surplus P6s in, as well. Come on down and compare them! :)
