We all have co-workers that think only gov and leo should have guns. Should you let them know your interest?

Not if your work is strongly anti-gun or has any strict anti-gun policies. I'd just lay low, because if they ever start searching cars, yours will be first.

Good advice, but remember let them beg to search your car, you still have the Fourth Amendment to keep you safe. Also remember, you do have the First Amendment so if you wanna talk, go for it, but as mentioned in the previous post, it can be detrimental to your career choice. That is why I love where I work, I am a state employee for the state of Kentucky, and we all have guns, we carry, any time someone gets a new toy, we are all out in the parking lot looking...

Well, I have to at my current job.

I have in the past worked with people who were anti-gun. I was never shy about talking about guns around them. I did have one try to create problems. I merely countered to HR that if they didn't want to hear me talk about guns and pro-gun politics, they needed to not talk about their anti-gun, anti-American politics around me, since I had just as much right to my opinions as they did. And I put it just like that.

Said butt munch never talked about guns around me again :D

Yes, there are employers that will punish you for that. I am not a coward, I do not hide my beliefs, and I absolutely do not tolerate bullies. Indeed, I attack them with ferocity.

Whenever I am involved in that type of discussion, at work or elsewhere, I participate and try to present a good picture of firearms ownership. Most people have no dog in the fight either way and often telling them about my involvement with boy scouts, 4-H, DNR teaching, etc. shows them a whole side of gun ownership and shooting sports of which they were not aware.

I have a picture of my 12 year old daughter holding her first rifle, a Remington 597 with 30 round banana mag in a frame on my desk... People think she is soooooo cute...

Yes, depending on the company, I do. I just make sure they are not aware if I have one in my vehicle or not. It's not that I fear one of my friends might break in, but rather the word might get around and eventually get to the wrong person.

Not during work hours. You are getting paid to work not to talk about your hobbies. Discipline needs to be taken if more than one employee is at the water fountain at a time.

Agreed. I let other folks get chatty. I'm happy to talk during breaks, lunch, etc.... Otherwise, I got stuff to do!

+1! If someone brings up most ANY topic (politics, religion, guns, whatever) over lunch, I'm happy to discuss at length.

My immediate team and a few friends/coworkers know where I stand. I have no issue with their opinions (they are pretty reasonable folks), and they have no issue with mine. I am a bit more reserved around folks I don't know as well.

I think you're reading too much into it. We talk about guns where I work during breaks or when we blow a transformer and we're all sitting around in the dark. I highly doubt if the OP is asking he should forgo his responsibilities so he can talk about guns.

Between the "I heart my AK-47" bumper sticker that I have on my computer at work and the photo of my daughter shooting an AK-74, it is well known that I am more than slightly pro-firearm. In fact any time someone at work has a firearm question, for some reason they seem to come to me first.

As for checking for firearms in my car while parked "at work" it seems the company forgot to buy the parking lot from the city when they built, because where I park is on the property of The City of Indianapolis and not company property. OOOPS!

i wouldnt do it if you work in an office setting, or around regular sheep. you all know what i mean. im guessing it will earn you a label that you dont want. plus I wouldnt want them to know that im packing or give them any indications. i ALWAYS have at least one gun on me, so it wouldnt be beneficial for me to advertise the fact that i like guns if i worked in a setting like that. I couldnt work with a bunch of socialist, communist, non-patriotic freaks.
