I took a colleague and his son to the range today to teach them gun safety and to see which type and size of handgun to purchase when they're ready to do so. We started with a S&W .22 target pistol (virtually no recoil) then moved up to 9mm Sig and then M&P .45ACP. Once they fired each a few times, I pulled out my .44mag and fired a few shots down range. The reaction of the rest of the shooters at the range is the best part....they all stop shooting and everybody's head pulls back and they peek around the range walls to see what is making that horrendous concussion. ;)

Try a 500 Smith next time, it's a great way to meet new people and make friends. Just take plenty of ammo, because everybody wants to shoot it.

I've had the same reaction with .454 Casull. Big-bada-boom! Great fun with James Caan in Alien Nation:

Cool. That's one of the best things about having and shooting a real hand-cannon. And, shooting .44 Special loads is like shooting .38 Specials in a .357!
