Sequential s/n Mosin's

I guess I'm more curious than anything. I have two Mosin Nagants that I purchased last year together. One has a round receiver and the other has the hex receiver. They two have back to back serial numbers. Just wondering if the s/n break had anything to do with the different style receivers? I'll try to get pictures up this evening.

They should have a Cyrillic prefix before the S/N that would be different.

Is it the importer applied serial number? Not a big deal, just got removed from the crate one after the other. If its the original arsenal applied serial, they started over every year so it would be possible to have "consecutive" serials even though the rifles were made years apart.
