Yesterday Senator Frank Lautenberg (D, NJ) introduced the follwing bills:

    1. S.22 : A bill to establish background check procedures for gun shows.
    2. S.33 : A bill to prohibit the transfer or possession of large capacity ammunition feeding devices, and for other purposes.
    3. S.34 : A bill to increase public safety by permitting the Attorney General to deny the transfer of firearms or the issuance of firearms and explosives licenses to known or suspected dangerous terrorists.
    4. S.35 : A bill to require face to face purchases of ammunition, to require licensing of ammunition dealers, and to require reporting regarding bulk purchases of ammunition.

These listings and summaries come from thomas.loc.gov, but the complete text of the bills is not yet available.

I noticed immediately that S.33's summary uses the term "transfer or possession" rather than "manufacturing" as I think most people were expecting.

Yea, those Bills plus all the Pork attached to those Bills. Remember that Socialist hide behind the innocent, so attached to those Bills might be other Bills that would protect Social Security. So if someone votes againts the anti-gun Bills, they will be called out for voting against protecting Social Security. This is the way the evil side works.

Not a fan of any of them, but this one is particularly worrisome. Forget due process, they want to be able to suspend rights if one is suspected...violates multiple amendments at once!

SO let me get this right... Break it down for me a bit...

Per .33 I could have made a fortune selling guns to Al Quaida or the Muslim Brotherhood up untill now... From what I get is that its legal to sell guns and explosives to terrorists currently

Per S.22 whats going to happen is private parties will meet in a gunshow, agree on a price and then go out to the parking lot to sell

Per S.35 anyone buying a bulk pack of remington 22 at walmart will no be investigated as a terrorist or mass murderer? Dont forget remington also sells a bucket o bullets.. 5k in a bucket

Really these are just silly and dumb

Because i'm sure we currently hand out FFL's and licenses for explosives to known or suspected dangerous terrorists.

Only people actively running guns to criminals (that act much like terrorist) are those wishing to punish us with more restrictive gun control laws.

The seriousness of these bills could not be overstated. Especially S. 34 as it would apply specifically to US citizens. Although the text is still not available, it appears that the plan would be to label anyone a "suspected terrorist" if they buy large quantities of ammo and then prohibit that person from buying any firearms, even via private party sales because S. 22 will likely pertain to all person to person sales.

What if the terrorist isn't dangerous :dunno:

seriously... it'd be ok if the dangerous terrorist has the firearms, but we can't transfer MORE to them ? :dunno:

again.. our gubbermint throwing dirty diapers at a wall to see if it'll stick (with added pork too no doubt)

How quickly is this going to try and get pushed through - i.e. are we going to be able to see a copy of the bills before they come up for vote/etc?

I and many of you possess the ability to do an instant background check via the hair on the back of my neck. Remember, the war on drugs has been such a smashing success I'm sure .gov will manage this just as well. They will pry the shoulder thing that goes up from my thinsulate lined gloves.

So I wonder if any of these stand a chance in the house.

Not only do they not stand a chance of even coming to the floor in the House, even the Dems in the Senate have already made clear they won't vote for them.

I realize that education and residing in Indiana are typically mutually exclusive things, but......all this hysteria over gun bans really needs to stop.

Nothing is going to happen. Nothing. Everything happening in DC right now is for political posturing. Nothing more.

Johnny45 has it exactly right. Read an interview with woman who was child in Austria when hitler took over. She said she is reliving her childhood now in US. She also points out Austrians voted hitler into power for promises of jobs and healthcare. They voted for hope and change

You do realize that everybody who's been raped, murdered, stabbed, in a car accident, etc... has always the mind set "that can't happen to me," "that won't happen around here," or "it just won't happen."

Choosing not to take any action at all because you believe you don't have to is, at best, naive.

I'm not saying we should be 'complaining' but we should definitely be contacting our representatives and voicing our opinions/feelings.

If "One Million Moms 4 Gun Control" feel that they need to speak out to get these passed, why do you feel we should be silent in defense?
