Hello, this is Mary, Scotts wife, he has asked me to reach out and post what is happening with him in hopes someone would know where he might get some help. A bit of background; in 2017 Scott suffered two strokes which left him unable to communicate well but he regained the use of his right side back 100%. He also has had four neck surgeries and still has severe chronic pain. But last January his right ring finger and pinky finger seized up and they did surgery to release a pinched nerve which he fully recovered from and was able to use his hand again. Fast forward to April he was out mowing the lawn and came in in pain and his right hand had seized up on him. We have done all kinds of tests, and they ruled out a knew stroke; he spent several days in the UC hospital where they loaded him up with enough pain meds to knock out a horse with no help.
Last week we went to the Cleveland Clinic where he had yet another bunch of testing. He was diagnosed with Dystonia and they said that he needs botox injections in the hand to try to get the spasm and pain under control, but they could not do anything while he was there and to find someone local. I have been asking all over and no one is getting back to me, or they don't do the procedure and have no knowledge of who does. He also need therapy from someone who specializes in dystonia or he will lose the use of his hand. Also, now his right leg is having similar symptoms. If anyone out there has any ideas we would really appreciate any ideas or input. We live in Batesville Indiana and trips to Cleveland are very hard on Scott.
I also wanted to let everyone know that though you don't hear from him much because of his condition that he is on INGO a lot, reads your posts and really enjoys hearing from you.

Very sorry to hear this. I'm very surprised that Cleveland Clinic could not start some treatment while he was there or have some kind of referral.

I wonder of Mayo Clinic might be able to work/partner with some local providers to assist him: https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/dystonia/care-at-mayo-clinic/mac-20350489

I've seen some of the local health systems advertise their partnership with Mayo. Not sure how real it is: https://newsnetwork.mayoclinic.org/...lth-in-indiana-join-mayo-clinic-care-network/

Mary, I don't know what else to say except I will be praying for Scott, and also for you. Give Scott my best. I miss seeing you two.

The only thing I can do is add y’all to our ever-growing list of people we pray for. Follow up with IU and hopefully they can get you in touch with someone soon. We know how helpless it feels to contact so many offices with no hope of getting in, but eventually you’ll get in. I’ll pray the process is speedy!

Mayo is a great place. If you should look into this, you should try to talk with a local neurologist to see if they can get you in a lot sooner than a personal phone call will do.

I hope the doors to best of specialists will open soon for you.

    Scott,

I'm sorry that I cannot help with advice. I do wish you the best and Mary too!

A little FYI - I only know Scott as a long time INGOer and our interactions have all been here on the forum. A few months back I met Mary, on Scott's behalf. She is a real fine lady, who adores her husband.

I would encourage INGOers with knowledge of these things to reach out to our friends here.

I've met Scott once. He's a fine upstanding individual. I have no doubt that Mary is the same. :yesway:

Mary, praying for you and Scott that you both trust and find comfort in our Lord and that someone points you and Scott in the right direction for help with this.
