I might have an opportunity to pick up a Savage Mark 2 from a friend. I am curious what everyone thinks about this rifle. I am wanting to get a 22 rifle. I know the Ruger 10/22 is a great option, but this Savage has fallen into my lap.

I do like bolt actions, so that is not a problem. I think he said he would sell it for $150. I have not seen it yet so I am not sure of condition.

    Does it have the Accutrigger?

The Savage MkII is a very accurate bolt gun and a great suppressor platform.

My Savage MKII is my garbage disposal for ammo that none of my automatics will shoot, or ones that don't go off in a semi-auto. Not only is it as reliable as the sun being hot, it is also amazingly accurate.

Price you quoted it a bit high in my humble opinion, unless it has a reasonable scope on it and is in like new condition.

Still, they are great rifles with amazing accuracy and reliability.

I got lucky in Kokomo and got a fv-sr for 250 new. Best investment I could have made. Savage rifles are tack drivers. However, avoid the gxp mk II as it doesn't have the acutrigger.

As it's been mentioned before, just make sure it's got the accutrigger before buying. If it doens't have that, it'd be a deal breaker for me. I use my mark II FV-SR for plinking at 300 yards. They are great rifles capable of incredible accuracy.
