I have a S&W Model 39-2 that is causing me some problems. A buddy brought the gun over for me to look at because it was not cocking correctly. I field stripped the gun and the first thing I noticed was the guide rod in the main spring was broke. The end that sits in the groove on the underside of the barrel was broken. I ordered a new guide rod and proceeded to replace. I can get the spring and rod to sit in the groove, but as soon as I try to reassemble the slide it will flip off the groove. I did successfully get the gun back together once but the gun would not cock or when you pull the trigger it follows through but never "fires" the gun. Anyone have experience with the 39 or know of a good gunsmith that works on S&W?

    Thanks,

    kris

I would just send it back to S&W. My experiences with getting a variety of guns fixed by them have all been positive. Go to their website for return directions.
