I stopped by my local shop and he took me through his whole case and I came down to these two handguns. Before anyone says anything yes, I specifically want the redundant safety features and really like the feel of them both.

Has anyone had experience with these two handguns? If so did you experience any problems or specific benefits? The only difference I can see between them is a slight price difference and the option to have the FNH come "stock" with night sights.

I have fired both, and greatly prefer the trigger, overall handling/feel and safety operation of the FNS-9. It also comes standard with 3 magazines rather than 2. If you can swing the price, I believe you'll be quite happy with it.

I have both the SR9 and the SR9c, I love them both. Great guns, great trigger. Over a 1000 rnds through the 9c and 0ver 500 in the SR9, no problems at all.

Great info so far guys, thanks. If anyone else has any experience it would be appreciated.

I've had an FNS for awhile now and i've owned just about every striker fired handgun there is (except the ruger) but it is by far my favorite and what I often carry. It's a more than the ruger but like shooter said you get an extra mag plus a nice case and night sights standard. Oh, and mine is extremely accurate.

I have an sr9, I really like it. No failures. The sr9 can shoot high pressure
loads like +P and +P+. I don't know if FN proofs their barrels for heavy loads.
They probly do, but it's something to check into.

FNs 9, I realy want to see those succeed. kinda hate ruger so their is that. I really like the FNS I have a feeling you'll get better performance out of it.

Ruger! I have the 9c, and many other Rugers. Have not had 1 problem with mine and probably around 400-500 rounds through it.

I went into a shop looking to get the Walther SP22 but walked out with the SR9c. I love this thing and have put over 300 rounds through it without any issues. It's a nice looking nine with good accuracy and my buddies that I shoot with love how smooth it is.

I've owned and shot the Ruger and I liked it alot. I've not shot the FN, but I just looked it up and it appears to be a pretty decent piece. Tough call.

Have SR9 and like it, had the FNP. 40 and sold it. In my experience and as the saying goes "opinions are like @##$%&/#" the Ruger is a better pistol that is better built with better reliability. And from personal experience better customer service by far.

I've heard that the SR9's can have problems with light strikes. Every SR9 doesn't have the problem, but quite a few do. Ruger will fix it, if you get a faulty one, but maybe a brand new gun shouldn't need fixing.

I had that at one point, but it turned out a quick striker channel cleaning took care of that rather nicely.

How does the FN compare to Glock in ergos?

I'm curious about weather the fns is capable of high pressure loads.

The fn website doesn't have the fns manual. If anyone has the fns I'd be
interested in weather the barrels are proof marked or not.

I liked the fnp 9, who knows how many 9 mm pistols are enough.
As a matter of fact just buy both.:rockwoot:Then tell us which one you like best.

Guess that depends on your definition of "high pressure".

This is from page 8 of the FN-S owners manual, section 13:

13 Use only SAAMI approved ammunition.
The barrel and the slide of this pistol have been made with substantial
safety margins over the pressures developed by established American
commercial loads. Nevertheless, we can assume no liability for
incidents which occur through the use of cartridges of nonstandard
dimensions or which develop pressures in excess of commercially
available ammunition which has been loaded in accordance with
standards established by the Sporting Arms and Ammunition
    Manufacturers’ Institute (SAAMI).

That tells me that +p is good, but +p+ probably isn't.
