It's only ironic if you equate libertarianism with a love for democratic process.

What I find rich is the Republican stalwarts who constantly berated libertarians to stop splitting the vote and work within the party framework to effect change suddenly getting all butthurt when libertarians do just that.

we have to get behind romney, i sure dont want obama

he has divided our country even more

i was better off 4 years ago

We don't have to get behind Romney. Voting against a candidate rather than for one is getting old. I'm voting 3rd party if its between Obama and Obama Jr.

I ask this in all seriousness: at what point do we accept that the message isn't being received?

Do we continue to vote in a manner that puts others priorities and considerations at risk simply for the sake of trying to get someone's attention?

What good is a protest vote that isn't registered with the people who were intended to receive it because there are still enough who support the status quo to make it feasible to ignore the vocal minority?

Principle is great, but if it doesn't get you anywhere, I fail to see where there is moral superiority in casting a vote for naught.

Nothing. Four days and the masters of sarcasm, one-liners, and condescension can't muster a single response to this?

The bestI can offer is that there is little incentive to vote for either of the 'realistic' choices this time considering that if you put Romney in a tanning booth for a couple of hours, 90% of the difference between them will disappear. Seriously, the only difference I can see is that Romney appears to be less aggressive in shredding the republic than Obama, which has been the difference at least since GHWB ran against Dukakis. I would say that Reagan, faults and all, may have simply been an anomaly to this process which had been going on for the better part of a century.

I seriously have trouble understanding how people can think Romney = ObamaLite. Obama's vision has been to complete the transformation of the nation from a capitalist-based republic to a socialist republic. However else Romney falls short, that's not his vision for the nation. I'd rather have had any number of other Republican candidates instead of Romney, but neither the Libertarians nor any other third party has the traction with the electorate to be viable. ONE Ron Paul in Congress (or as President) doesn't do a bit of good in weaning the general populace from craving more government spending. The grass-roots reform movement is growing, but it isn't anywhere near ready to assume its place in power.

I want to believe that the ironically condescending thread-bump was intentional.

I ask this in all seriousness: at what point do we accept that the message isn't being received?
When there is nothing left to save of this republic.

Do we continue to vote in a manner that puts others priorities and considerations at risk simply for the sake of trying to get someone's attention?
    They will at record levels.

The goodness of any vote is found in the voter's heart.

Principle is great, but if it doesn't get you anywhere, I fail to see where there is moral superiority in casting a vote for naught.
Many people feel that supporting the Establishment is a vote for naught.

Obama's "vision" has been far from socialist. He's done a great deal for many private (corporate, capitalist) interests. Just like the guy before him, and the guy before him, and the guy before him, etc. Probably the single most "socialist" thing Obama has done was 1) practically modeled after a plan that Romney orchestrated at the state level and 2) bought and paid for by the health insurance industry.
