Everyone in Congress was shown the Todd Rokita letter and given over a week to contact his office if they wanted a signature block space held for them ( to sign the letter). This includes all Republicans from Indiana. 2. Only Stutzman and Messer said yes from Indiana. The others did reply and said no. 3. Young did sign a softer letter apparently ( his description) from another member from Michigan. He would not sign both. Todd signed both. Marlin and Messer signed both. The other delegation members signed neither.

Very eloquently put. He summed it up precisely - enforce the laws on the criminals, don't rewrite the laws to make ordinary citizens criminals.

Rep would be inbound had I not already given you some recently.

This is a strong and forceful letter to Obama and the rest of the socialists.

The irony of the letter is contrasted between the ideas of what protects children. The socialists want to remove Constitutional rights to protect children and the conservatives want to enforce Constitutional rights to protect our children.

"However we do not believe that stricter gun legislation is the answer to preserving our future generations"

That is a profound statement! Rep. Rokita knows what this is all about!

I have communicated with Representative Rokita a few times, the theme about the inheritance we leave for our children and grandchildren is mentioned each time.

I have a lot of respect for this man and he has my support.

I don't see Todd Young's name on there... disappointing...

Email I just submitted to Rep Young:

    Representative Young,

I was pleased to read a House Letter to President Obama written by our very own Todd Rokita today that addressed the issue of the 2nd Amendment. The matter at hand has already been decided by The Supreme Court and could not be more clearly stated in our constitution with the words "...shall not be infringed." Rep Rokita succinctly and eloquently stated the appropriate position on the matter and I commend him for doing so. 44 other members of the House agreed and signed their name to the letter.

My question for you, sir, is why your name was not attached to this letter? How is it your name is not signed along with the other 44 members of the House? I have seen a number of your letters in response to fellow Hoosiers concerned about this topic of our right to keep and bear arms. In all that I've read, none of your responses have given a true indication on where you stand.

If you're under the guise that more compromise is needed or more gun laws, I urge you to take a moment of reflection on how much compromise has already been given. A permission slip from the state to carry a firearm is a compromise as well as paying taxes for the License to Carry a Handgun. The NFA process is a compromise along with its associated taxes. Truth be told, there are somewhere near 20,000 gun laws from the Federal, State, and Local governments throughout this great nation. All of these compromises conflict with shall not be infringed. Another gun law will not keep criminals from doing what criminals do.

I would like an honest response from you on why you chose not to sign Rep Rokita's House Letter to the President as well as a definitive no compromise position on the 2nd Amendment. You're constitutes need to know you're in this fight with us.

    Awaiting your response.

    Sincerely,

    buckstopshere

+10000 Excellent letter and directly to the point for Rep. Young. He cannot skirt around this issue and expect support from the people.

Keep us updated if you get a response!

Everyone who doesn't see their Represntative's signature on Todd's letter to Obama should make contact with them and demand to know why and demand to know their position on upholding the Constitution!

Neither of the representatives I've contacted signed this letter. I wonder if they had the option and refused - or if they simply weren't present/didn't have the option at the time?

I know little of how Congressmen actually 'work'.

Didn't see Susan Brooks signature, either.

I've sent messages to Ms. Brooks as well and have received nothing but "I'm busy, I'll get around to answering you later" form letters. She'll be hearing from me about why she's not one of the Indiana reps who signed this letter. She seems to be on our side, so I would like to know.

The letter is very encouraging and very well worded. I am proud of all those that stood up and signed it. I am extremely disappointed in all those who did not, if they were offered the opportunity to do so. Sadly, this includes my district's rep, Ms Brooks, who shall be hearing from me yet again regarding this failure.
